We mourn the loss of Gov. Jim Florio. He was a fighter – a boxer and a U.S. Navy officer, not just a tough politician – who consistently stood for what he believed was right for New Jersey. He worked hard on business issues, and frequently joined the N.J. Chamber on our Walk to Washington where he discussed important economic issues with N.J. Chamber of Commerce members. During his tenure as a Congressman, Florio presided over critical pieces of legislation that have long benefitted New Jersey, including a bill that established the Superfund law to clean hazardous waste sites and a law that boosted Amtrak, a critical economic driver for New Jersey, the region and the nation. His legacy is strong. He will be missed.
